Sussex Inlet and Shoalhaven

The beaches in this area are often recognised for their spectacular beauty due to the white sands and crystal clear ocean. The breathtaking beaches of Jervis Bay, including the world famous Hyams Beach, are located just a few kilometres from Sussex Inlet and are all included in the protected Jervis Bay Marine Park, which spans 100 kilometres along the coast.

The marine park is a fabulous way to explore the region via boat, kayak or paddleboard. Surf, snorkel, scuba dive, or fish the beautiful clear waters that seals, penguins, dolphins and many other marine animals call home. Migrating humpback whales also make their annual passage during the whale-watching season, often using the protect waters of Jervis Bay to stop on the return trip with their calves. Join a cruise at nearby Huskisson, or simply enjoy the view from the deck of a stunning beachside restaurant. The marine park also offers great walking trails either along the coast or through Booderee National Park for those who prefer to stay on dry land.

"This place is a unique holiday location in a National Park with plenty of creature comforts. Located at the mouth of Sussex Inlet, it is just a walk to the beach from any of the units. Great in Summer for water sports and some of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the state.
Combined with abundant wildlife there is lots to see here.
Winter brings the passing whales and dolphin watching is available in nearby Jervis Bay. Handy to a nearby fossil site on Berrara Beach. Something for everyone in this area.

"It is an excellent "get away from it all" resort at an affordable price in an idyllic location. However, the accessibility location isn't all that bad, it's the actual journey one had to take to get there, eg., traversing across traffic and toll-riddled Sydney as the stress related to getting to and from Sussex Inlet remains. But, it is the resort location itself that alleviates that stress."

Gregory S

"Can’t recommend this place more! Loved the accommodation absolutely spotless and very welcoming. 2 secs from the water kids had a blast outside in the trampolines. Stunning surroundings, loved every second being here."

"Really loved our stay here. So quiet and peaceful. Lovely cabins such great value for money. Will definitely be back!"

Things to do in Sussex lnlet

There are a range of activities to be enjoyed in and around Booderee National Park. Booderee's pristine beaches, spectacular turquoise waters, and beautiful bushland is a must see for visitors to the Jervis Bay and Shoalhaven region. In addition to having a diverse representation of flora and fauna, the park also has some of the highest sea cliffs in the state with Steamers Head rising to 130 meters. The ruins of the Cape St George Lighthouse are listed on the Commonwealth Heritage List, whilst the park provides insight into the rich First Nations heritage of the local Wreck Bay people.

Jervis Bay National Park is close at hand for visitors to Sussex Inlet. Both the Booderee and Conjola National Parks offer a diverse range in ecosystems; from wetlands to woodlands, forests to rugged scenic cliff-faces, wild surf and private coves, to the whitest sand beaches you will see.

From your base at Haven Holiday Resort, you can explore many charming seaside villages and towns dotted along the seaboard such as Hyams Beach, Huskisson, Mollymook, and Ulladulla. Also within easy reach (one hour) are the picturesque, historic towns of Berry and Kangaroo Valley, both of which are surrounded by lush, green landscapes.

Berry is a charming village comprised of many historical buildings and is known for its great local produce, much of which draws upon the rich surrounding dairy country. Locals proudly describe Kangaroo Valley as the most "beautiful valley in Australia".

However you choose to spend your time in Sussex Inlet, be it exploring the tidal canals, taking in the stunning beaches, or soaking up the untouched wilderness of the national parks and marine park, you’ll be sure to love your holiday.

Sussex Inlet is located 20 minutes south of Jervis Bay, which is approximately three hours south of Sydney and less than three hours east of Canberra by car. Those situated in Melbourne wanting a south-coast getaway can make the journey in just under nine hours along the Hume Highway.

There are no accessible public airports in the Jervis Bay area.
